Love it! I had had short hair like yours maybe 5 or so years ago, then grew it out. Had a baby last year and the regrowth had just been crazy - I almost looked like I had a reverse mullet or something wild hahaha! Just walked into my hairdresser yesterday and said it was time to cut it all off. 😂😅
Hi Emily, really great post on hair - thank you. I too have oily hair and need to wash it every day if going out. Contrary to popular belief it doesn't make your hair worse off if you are gentle and l only use conditioner on my ends. l also have thin hair which l have worn in a long bob for many years and think it's the best style for me. If your flaky hair exacerbates products like Nizoral from the chemist will help. My only other suggestion, is to watch the products you are putting on your scalp - they may add to your concerns in the future. Lisa
Ohh you make me wanna chop my hair! I have extra thick hair and a super round face though 🤣 albeit you’re making me rethink that maybe I could. I’ve heard of Michael Van Clarke a few times, as I’m based in London maybe I should go visit and get his opinion x
I really don’t think daily washing for some of us is naughty at all! Check out what trichologist Philip Kingsley has to say on the matter. I paid for a consultation and they prescribed daily washing - really bad for some of our scalps to be too oily. I’m not sure the myth of washing your hair as little as possible will ever go away. If your scalp is dirty, wash it. Some may not need to wash daily, but far too many women are walking around with filthy, oily hair for no reason. Possibly causing more harm than good.
I have very similar hair to yours and think our hair inspo Pinterest boards are exactly the same haha! Just thought I would comment and vouch for minoxidil. I always had thin, fine hair but a few years ago noticed it was getting a lot thinner all along my part. I visited a derm who diagnosed me with female pattern hair loss and prescribed oral minoxidil (so much easier taking a tablet than using the topical). It’s made such a huge difference. I would really recommend seeing a derm if you’re thinking about it. Although, for the record, your hair looks so thick and healthy and is truly hair goals for me!
I have similar hair type to you and this was so incredibly insightful! Of course I went and purchased some of your top recs too! Loved the detail you put into this!
Started getting my haircut with Paloma (Paloma Salom) and she changed my life - she taught me the importance of treating my hair the same way I would my skin (i.e. using proper products). I've always had healthy, thick hair but it's even better now.
Her haircuts are also just incredible - dream haircut every time.
I have a dumb hair question. I wash my hair at night and dry it before I sleep. Am I meant to use some styling products than and there? Can I sleep in styling products? I just don't have time to wash my hair in the mornings!
Ha ha not dumb! I sometimes sleep with wet hair :| But I literally never wash my hair in the mornings either. I'll try and wash it 1-2 hours before bed so it dries? And add my products etc, then?
So it’s okay to sleep with product?! I’m always wondering how you’re meant to sleep in product and keep it away from your face (so it doesn’t clog pores etc)
I literally just chopped my hair off inspired by you!
amazing How is it? Do you love? xxx
